Everyone knows, Firefox is the best web browser, but today I came across a new web browser that is specifically developed with social media animals like me in mind. It's called Flock and is built on the Mozilla Platform, just like Firefox is. Flock is cross-platform and is targeting the users who like to take part in social media sites like del.icio.us , facebook , YouTube and more. Flock already supports a large number of Web 2.0 services.
The great thing about Flock is that it starts to address the problem of managing all your social media accounts. I have accounts on many social media sites and frankly find it somewhat overwhelming to manage or participate in all on a regular basis. Flock does not yet support all the sites, but it most definitely points the direction and provides some relief for the major social media services out there. Over time, as new services become available, I think Flock will be the way to go. I see that Flock has already had a significant uptake amongst social media groups. Since Flock is built on Mozilla, I think that Firefox will also start to follow the Flock direction and we could possibly start to see a whole range of new Firefox add-ons or even a whole revamp of how Firefox works. Anyway I installed Flock on my Kubuntu and have found it very stable and very convenient to use. If you are a social media animal, I just you try it. For alll Joomla fans, I don't see a way to blog to Joomla websites directly from Flock. I see in the Flock forums that there is some discussion around it , but that is mostly for Joomla 1.5. I've not moved to Joomla 1.5 yet as I can't use it on production sites. So I am looking for a Joomla/Flock addon that will allow blogging from Flock to Joomla 1.0.x. Anyway, now I am off to see if I can make FLock and StumbleUpon work. In the meanwhile, download and try Flock. I'd be interested to hear your feedback below. And if you have a Joomla 1.0.x / Flock solution, let me know.
