SA Real Estate INVESTOR Magazine Profile
Saturday, 29 September 2007

It is so good to see that the South African real estate investor community is starting to get more organized. We have traditionally been a very distributed bunch of people, everyone unaware of the other. Site like Property Investor Network are going a long way to reshaping our knowledge of the property market in South Africa and giving us new opportunities for networking amongst ourselves. So it is great to see that property investors now also have a South African Magazine focused entirely on Real Estate Investing in South Africa.

The launch of the South African Real Estate INVESTOR Magazine has met with great success and much welcome by property investors and property professionals throughout the industry. The first issue of a magazine is always the hardest and I think Neale Petersen and his team have done an outstanding job. The magazine is comparable with major publications, gives clear accurate information and succeeds in avoiding the hype that surrounds most information presented by other property publications in the South African property industry.

Great Workshop Response
Saturday, 29 September 2007

Well, today is the day after the Property Investor Network - Investor Letting Workshop. I am much relieved and at the same time exhausted. Who would have thought that running a one day workshop could be such an exhilarating and exhausting experience, all in one.

The response to the workshop was great. I only expect about 20 people to attend and we had 37 people registered. In general I think our low key, honest approach, sans heavy or pushy sales pitch won at the end of the day.

StreetWise Letting for Property Investors
Wednesday, 29 August 2007

As spring finally nears, after a Winter we thought was never going to end, our Property Investor Network our online property investor community website now has over 500 members and looks set to grow from strength to strength. As the site grows we are trying different methods to take a free membership base and monetize it by offering services that are of value to property investors.

One of the ways we are trying to help property investors is by providing them with knowledge via the website forum by sharing our knowledge and experience. This has led to the development of an idea we call "StreetWise Property Investing". The concept is to deliver practical knowledge and experience gained through the university of life with academic facts.

South Africa's First Free Online Articles Directory
Friday, 24 August 2007

Well I've just put up another website. This time it is a free online article directory called ArticleDirectory.co.za. While the concept of article directories is not new, this is the first of its kind in the South African domain space (co.za).

Article directories have great potential when it comes to online marketing and with such a resource now in the South African domain space I am hoping that people will start to make full use of the site to gain more exposure for their products and services. Of course the site is indexed by all major search engines, but what made this site so interesting is the use of RSS feeds to enable syndication of content by webmasters and newsletter publishers.

Walla! - The Place to Find Stuff
Tuesday, 14 August 2007

Always wanted to run my own directory, classifieds and job listings website. So I finally got around to doing it. I've called it Walla! after the expression one makes when one has been searching for something and now you've found it. The URL is, of course, http://www.walla.co.za .

While building Walla! i was contemplating the balance between how much to give away free and what to charge for. At the same time I was thinking of other was to possibly generate revenue in addition to paid listings. Here's what I found and what I decided.
